Regent Airways (Dhaka) is looking to acquire five new aircraft - two E145s/E170s and three B737-800s - as part of its USD100million expansion programme. The corresponding increase in capacity will pave the way for the airline to open up flights to 13 new international destinations Sam Issac, chief adviser to the airline, told the Daily Star.

“We want to be a preferred airline internationally. So, we are investing in technology, passenger facility, aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul,”he said. "The new investment will ensure better safety and passenger comfort."

Among the destinations being considered are Doha Hamad International, Muscat, Abu Dhabi International, Riyadh, Jeddah International, Gaya (India), and Johor Bahru in Malaysia. Isaac also stated that Regent is studying the possibility of serving Saidpur domestically.

Founded in 2010, Regent operates two B737-700s, one DHC-6-400 and two Dash 8-300s on flights to Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Jessore, and Sylhet locally as well as to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur International, and Singapore Changi regionally.
