Arik Air (W3, Lagos) resumed scheduled services to Banjul, Gambia effective October 1 airline Managing Director, Chris Ndulue, has said. Flights to the West African nation, along with those to Conakry in Guinea, Freetown in Sierra Leone, and Monrovia Roberts in Liberia, were suspended in late July at the onset of the latest outbreak of the deadly Ebola fever that has now killed over 3'000 people.

As measures to curb the disease's spread are put in place, so more West and Central African countries are reopening suspended routes to affected nations. Among the most recent to reopen suspended services to neighbouring states are the Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea.

For its part, Kenya Airways (KQ, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) has announced it will resume services to Monrovia Roberts and Freetown on October 24.
