Globus (Novosibirsk) will commence a 3x weekly Moscow Domodedovo to Tbilisi service effective November 2 thereby following Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) which will resume its Georgian operations on October 26.

Last month, Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) announced the resumption of direct flights between Russia and Georgia following a 6 year hiatus. The two countries broke off direct scheduled air links in the wake of the 2008 South Ossetia War which pitted Georgia against Russia and the separatist states of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Among Russia's designated carriers for services to Georgia are: Aeroflot, Globus, S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk), VIM Airlines (Moscow Domodedovo), Transaero Airlines (Moscow Vnukovo), Ural Airlines (U6, Ekaterinburg), and UTair (UT, Khanty-Mansiysk). Georgia is believed to have received applications from Georgian Airways (A9, Tbilisi) and LCC start-up, flyvista (Tbilisi), for its own services to Russia.
