Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) is close to finalizing a deal with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for "at least" thirty-five A320neos sources that spoke to Bloomberg news on condition of anonymity have said. According to the newswire, the deal is valued at USD3.6billion.

Boeing (BOE, Washington National) was reportedly "not given the oppurtunity to submit its proposal" to the Brazilian budget carrier.

Azul intends to use the aircraft on its most busy Brazilian domestic routes and to make up for thirty Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) Regional Jets that will be shifted elsewhere in its expanding network.

The carrier's fleet currently includes nine ATR42s, fifty ATR72s, twenty-two E190s, and fifty-five E195s. Two A330-200s, set to be used on its maiden international flights to the United States this December, have since arrived with a further three - PR-AIW (cn 462), PR-AIY (cn 494), and PR-AIT (cn 365) - currently awaiting delivery.
