Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) will resume services to the western Libyan coastal town of Misurata with a daily flight set to commence on October 27. The announcement was made following consultative talks between Turkish envoy, Emrullah İşler, and Libyan officials in control of the city, earlier this week.

International carriers have been reluctant to resume services to the chaos-stricken North African country since heavy fighting broke out in both Tripoli and Benghazi in June this year. Inter-factional Islamist fighting in and around Tripoli International airport has left it largely underserviceable for the time being with Tripoli Mitiga being used instead.

Libya's official parliament, the house of representatives, was forced to flee to the eastern city of Tobruk when fighting broke out leaving militant leader Omar Al Hassi to declare himself the country's official, but internationally unrecognized, president. Tripoli's new rulers have also proclaimed their own government and formed a new parliament though neither of them have been internationally recognized.
