Bassaka Air (Phnom Penh) commenced scheduled operations on Monday, October 27, with service to Macau International. The start-up, a partnership between state-owned Chinese travel firm, China International Travel Services and NagaCorp Ltd, the largest hotel, gaming and leisure operator in Cambodia, is using a pair of ex-Vietnam Airlines (VN, Hanoi Noi Bai International) A320-200s supplied by NagaCorp itself.

The carrier has lodged an application with both Cambodian and Chinese authorities concerning flights to China in the near future. Bassaka plans to tap into the vast Chinese gambling market which is forced to go abroad given local restrictions forbidding the practice on mainland Chinese soil.
