Bahamasair (UP, Nassau International) managing director Henry Woods says his airline is in the process of establishing services to the US and Canadian West Coast with Los Angeles International and Vancouver International possible destinations.

“California is obviously the gateway for passengers from Asia. We would like to pioneer California-Bahamas flights,” Woods told ATWOnline.

While the Bahamian national carrier has applied to the US government for the requisite traffic permits, Woods says it would require new aircraft to allow it to open up the flights. At present, Bahamasair operates four B737-500s, one wet-leased B737-400, and five Dash 8-300s on flights throughout the Caribbean and to Florida. It also operates some scheduled charter flights from other US cities.
