Royal Air Maroc (AT, Casablanca Mohamed V) will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a replacement for its last remaining B747-400, CN-RGA (msn 25629), scheduled to be removed from active service during the course of 2015. The aircraft, which at one point plied transatlantic routes, has now been reduced to a Hajj charter operator.

Airline Deputy Chief Executive Officer Habiba Laklalech told Bloomberg news that among the possible contenders being considered are the B747-8 and the A380-800. When not in use for Hajj operations, the chosen aircraft would also double as a VIP transport for the Moroccan royal family, he added.

Royal Air Maroc's widebody operations currently entails five B767-300(ER)s with two B787-8s due to arrive in December and March 2015 respectively.

The Moroccan national carrier will also issue an RFP for single-aisle aircraft in 2015, with the B737 MAX and A320neo expected to lead the pack. Once secured, the aircraft will replace RAM's fleet of six B737-700s and thirty-one B737-800s.
