Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) has been banned by Ukrainian authorities from serving Dnipro and Kharkiv who cited "security reasons" as their justification. The open-ended ban also affects local carrier Dniproavia (Dnipro).
The two airports are closest to the rebel strongholds of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine whose airports are not currently in active use anymore.
Ukraine has accused Russia of aiding separatist rebels in the country's east.
