American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) will take delivery of its maiden B787-8s early next year Reuters newswire has reported. The aircraft were to have arrived last month but have now been deferred by at least two months. The "All Things 787" blog lists the carrier's first two airframes, N800AN (msn 40618) and N801AC (40619), as due on January 22 and 29 respectively though this is subject to official confirmation.

The planes at first will be flown between American's hubs before being deployed on international routes, expected in second quarter 2015, airline spokesman spokesman Matt Miller told the press this week.

American has firm orders for sixteen B787-8s of which two were to have been delivered this year with eleven due in 2015.
