Horizon Air (QX, Seattle Tacoma International) has converted two of seven previously acquired Dash 8-400 NextGen aircraft options to firm orders in a deal valued at approximately USD70.1 million based on current list prices. According to Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau), the carrier retains options for another five of the type.

Established in 1981, Horizon Air was acquired in 1986 by Alaska Air Group, Inc., the parent company of Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International). As it also operates services to remote Alaskan towns, its fleet of fifty-one Q400s is equipped with Head-up Guidance Systems (HGS) for all-weather operations, Wide Area Augmentation Systems (WAAS) with approach guidance (LPV) for ILS-like landing minima at remote runways and RNP AR 0.1 to fly curved approaches to airports in difficult terrain.
