Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) has announced it will open a new base in Kosice on 14th September 2015 with one initial Airbus A320 aircraft. It will be the carrier's 20th operating base.

Currently Wizz Air has two destinations in Slovakia: Košice and Poprad/Tatry. Both airports are only served from London Luton at the moment. Following the opening of the new base in September Wizz Air will introduce new flights from Košice to Doncaster/Sheffield and Milan Bergamo.

Local Italian news portal Il Resto der Carlino has reported that Wizz Air is considering moving its flights from/to Bologna to either Forli or Rimini as soon as one of the airports reopens. It currently serves Bologna from Bucharest Henri Coanda, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Sofia and Timisoara.

In other news, Wizz Air has announced that it will move its flights from Gdansk to Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski between June 12 and June 15 due to runway work to Gdansk airport's single runway. It will provide bus services for the 2 hour journey to/from Bydgoszcz.
