Xiamen Airlines (MF, Xiamen) has secured official approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to begin direct flights from its Xiamen hub to Amsterdam Schiphol this summer. The WCARN news portal says the flights, which will operate from July onwards on-board Xiamen's fleet of two B787-8s, are a precursor to planned flights to Australia which it hopes to launch by the end of October this year.

The launch of long haul international flights adds to the China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) subsidiary's network which currently encompasses flights throughout China as well as Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea.
