LAN Airlines (Santiago de Chile) took delivery of its first B787-9, CC-BGA (msn 35317), on February 5 following a ferry flight from Everett to Santiago de Chile. Parent LATAM Airlines Group is leasing the new jet from Dutch lessor AerCap.

According to the ch-aviation route database, the -9s will be deployed into service in April on flights to Easter Island domestically and to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini, Lima International, Los Angeles International, Madrid Barajas, New York JFK, and São Paulo Guarulhos internationally.

As it stands, LAN now operates eleven B787s including ten B787-8s and one B787-9. Overall, LATAM is looking to build a fleet of thirty-two B787 Dreamliners, including ten B787-9s, over the next several years.
