Thai VietJetAir (VZ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) will commence scheduled flights between Bangkok Don Mueang and Phuket on March 29 a senior airline executive has told the Bangkok Post. Thereafter, routes to Udon Thani and Krabi will follow along with its first international services to either Hanoi Noi Bai International or Ho Chi Minh City.

Overall, the start-up's chairman Nguyen Thanh Hung said, the carrier is planning to operate a fleet of four A320-200s this year on a network that includes China, India, South Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Despite its imminent scheduled debut, the airline has undergone a drastic shake-up of its shareholding with former majority shareholder, Somphong Sooksanguan, moving to divest himself and Kan Air (KND, Chiang Mai) parent, Kannithi Aviation, of their combined 51% stake in the carrier. Somphong has blamed his exit on differences in managerial style with that of 49% shareholder, VietJetAir (VJ, Hanoi Noi Bai International).
