China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) has tentatively set its final A340-600 scheduled revenue flight for April 29 according to Airline Route. As it stands now, the last flight will be the almost 15 hours long sector from Toronto Pearson to Shanghai Pudong that day with the aircraft landing in Shanghai on April 30.

The carrier originally took delivery of five brand-new Airbus A340-600s in 2003 and 2004. The three units that China Eastern received in 2003 have already been withdrawn from use and stored for the last couple of months. At the moment, only the two 2004-built aircraft, B-6053 (cn 577) and B-6055 (cn 586) are active.

All in all, a total of 99 Airbus A340-600 have been built with just 80 of them still in active service at the moment.

Besides the Toronto route, China Eastern currently also operates the A340-600s on a daily basis between Shanghai Pudong and Singapore Changi as well as on some domestic and regional flights to Sanya, Taipei Taoyuan and Tokyo Narita.
