Aluu Airlines (Nuuk) has announced the deferment of its planned launch, originally due for the middle of the year. Though it had sought to commence scheduled operations on June 1, Aluu says the process of securing an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Danish Civil Aviation Administration is now taking longer than previously anticipated resulting in the delay. No tentative launch window has been offered.

The start-up is looking to offer flights between Copenhagen Kastrup and Kangerlussuaq using an undisclosed aircraft, with an ATR to be used to offer internal connecting flights from Kangerlussuaq to Nuuk and Ilulissat.

Aluu, which is looking to break Air Greenland's monopoly on the Greenlandic scheduled passenger market, is set to be joined by another start-up - Greenland Express (Aalborg). Though it did operate for a brief, erratic period last summer using an Fokker 100 chartered from Denim Air ACMI (Amsterdam Schiphol), Greenland Express is looking to resume operations later this year using A319-100s.
