Afriqiyah Airways (8U, Tripoli Mitiga) is reportedly looking to lease out one of its two brand new A330-300s, currently in storage at Teruel, Spain, as F-WWTS (cn 1499) and F-WWCK (cn 1535). With two of its A330-200s damaged during heavy fighting at Tripoli International last year, the carrier has been hesitant to import the two jets into the country resulting in their being stored indefinitely.

Libyan Aviation News reports the airline is looking to secure wet-lease, as opposed to dry-lease, contracts for the jet as the former would allow Libyan crews to man the aircraft thereby providing them with gainful employment.

A preliminary contract with an undisclosed European leasing firm is reportedly being negotiated. Though the initial commitment will be for two years, there is an option to extend the deal to eight.
