Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) is reported to be the unnamed European carrier which has been in talks with Afriqiyah Airways (8U, Tripoli Mitiga) over the planned lease of the latter's two A330-300s. Libyan media reports state the Turks are currently discussing the possible use of the jets ahead fo the upcoming summer season.

As previously reported, F-WWTS (cn 1499) and F-WWCK (cn 1535) are currently in storage at Teruel in Spain and have yet to commence operations for and on behalf of the Libyan carrier.

While the fractured nature of Libya's political landscape is considered a factor in the deliveries' delay, international insurers hesitance to cover the jets, given the damage incurred by Afriqiyah and Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga) aircraft at Tripoli International last year, is also believed to have played a role.
