germanwings (4U, Cologne/Bonn) is to resume services out of Berlin Schönefeld in October of this year, roughly three years after it moved its Berlin operations to Berlin Tegel.
According to Austrian Aviation Net, the Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) subsidiary will offer multiple daily flights from Schönefeld to Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart Manfred Rommel beginning in early October.
The move coincides with Ryanair's recent announcement that it would develop its own Berlin Schönefeld base operations. Beginning in winter of this year, the Irish budget carrier intends to base five B737-800s at Berlin Schönefeld with plans to resume domestic German operations with flights to Cologne/Bonn.
