South African Express (EXY, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) will commence scheduled flights from Cape Town International (2x weekly) and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo (3x weekly) to Sun City beginning April 1. The CRJ200-operated flights will mark the first commercial service to the airfield, which serves as a gateway to the Sun City resort, since 2011.

As part of its contract with the North West province's government, the carrier will also resume commercial flights to Mmabatho at some point in the future. The airport last saw scheduled services in 2009 when its operating licence was revoked for non-compliance with South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) national standards.
