KLM cityhopper (WA, Amsterdam Schiphol) will transition to an all-Embraer fleet following the complete withdrawal of its Fokker Aircraft fleet in 2018. Parent KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol) announced on Monday, March 30 that it has ordered fifteen E175s and two E190s for its subsidiary with the two EMB-190s due in December this year. The contract also includes an option for seventeen additional E-Jets destined for either KLM cityhopper or Air France regional subsidiary, HOP!-Régional (Clermont-Ferrand).

The first of the fifteen EMB-175s will begin to arrive from March next year with deliveries set to run until June 2018.

"Purchasing these seventeen Embraers and taking out an option to order an additional seventeen in the future, represents a giant stride for KLM in terms of fleet renewal," KLM president and CEO Pieter Elbers said. "KLM continues to invest in its fleet and product in order to offer passengers the best, as well as reaffirming KLM and KLM Cityhopper’s commitment to our customers."

As the Embraers arrive so cityhopper will begin to phase out its fleet of eighteen Fokker 70s. As such, come 2018, the KLM cityhopper fleet will consist of thirty EMB-190s and at least fifteen EMB-175s.

Established in 1991, cityhopper operates around 300 flights a day to destinations around Europe for and on behalf of its parent, KLM.
