Kan Air (KND, Chiang Mai) is set to commence scheduled operations out of its newest base - Utapao - later this week the Bangkok Post has reported. Using its fleet of two ATR72-500s, the carrier will serve Chiang MaiUbon RatchathaniUdon Thani, and Bangkok Don Mueang beginning April 10.

The airport, located 90 kilometres southeast of Bangkok in an area bordering Chon Buri's Sattahip district and Rayong's Ban Chang district, is currently served by Bangkok Airways (PG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) with seasonal charters from Russia and the CIS making up the bulk of its traffic.

The Thai domestic carrier also operates a Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208B and a Premier I.
