Transaero Airlines (Moscow Vnukovo) has resumed flights to Rimini, on Italy's Adriatic coast, following the airport's reopening this past Easter. Since Rimini's closure last year, the Russian carrier has been using Ancona.

Though the Russian carrier is the only operator there at present, the ItaliaVola flight blog states that Luxair (LG, Luxembourg), Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium (Brussels National), Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa), and Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) are scheduled to resume their annual charter flights to Rimini later this summer.

During the upcoming high season, airport operator AiRiminum says it is targeting 1,200 flights from markets in Russia, Germany, Scandinavia, as well as Asia.

Following the sudden collapse of the airfield's previous operator, Aeradria, in October last year, the Italian civil aviation authority (L'Ente Nazionale per L'Aviazione Civile - ENAC) closed Rimini to all air traffic while it undertook certification of its new operator, AiRiminum. The exercise was completed during the last quarter with the airfield reopened to commercial traffic from April 1.
