NovoAir (VQ, Dhaka) is reportedly planning to acquire an undisclosed number of ATR72-600s Bangladeshi aviation sources have revealed. Though exact details are still sketchy, the Bangladesh Aviation Hub claims the turboprops could be used to either supplement the carrier's fleet of three E145s, or to replace them altogether.

The move is likely in response to state-backed carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines' recent decision to re-enter the domestic market thereby putting private operators Novo Air, United Airways (Dhaka), Regent Airways (Dhaka), and US-Bangla Airlines (BS, Dhaka) under increased pressure.

Founded in 2010, Novo Air specializes in domestic Bangladeshi flights serving Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Jessore, and Sylhet from its Dhaka hub.
