Skymark Airlines (BC, Tokyo Haneda) is planning to drop Sendai as a focus city during the upcoming 2015/16 Winter season which begins on October 25. Following the termination of flights to Fukuoka and Sapporo Chitose earlier this year, Kobe is Skymark's only remaining Sendai service, which it currently plies twice daily.
The Zipanguflyer blog states the LCC has already informed Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLITT) of its decision to withdrawn from the eastern coastal city, part of a a network rationalization initiative.
Currently, Ibex Airlines (FW, Sendai) is the only carrier to use Sendai as a base with LCC Peach Aviation (MM, Osaka Kansai) alluding to developing one by summer 2017.
