Falcon Air Express (Miami International) is in talks with the operator of Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Florida over the possibility of its commencing scheduled services there. Located in Central Florida, the airfield last saw scheduled services in 2013 when Direct Air (Myrtle Beach International) offered flights to Myrtle Beach International, Niagara Falls, and Springfield, IL.

The Ledger newspaper reports the ACMI/charter specialist has already ferried four of its seven MD-83s to the airport for storage.

It is understood that should operations go ahead, they could be operated under Falcon Air's "Volo" brand which was recently registered with the US Department of Transportation (DOT).

Falcon plans to start operations with one aircraft if not by next month then by October. By then, a second aircraft should be deployed followed by a third next spring. Destinations under consideration include either Lansing or Kalamazoo; Branson; Baton Rouge; Newport News/Williamsburg, Va.; Springfield/Chicopee; and either Huntsville International or Jackson Evers International, MS.
