Avianca Holdings has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for 100 A320neo Family aircraft including its A319neo, A320neo, and A321neo variants. The first jets are scheduled to begin operations in 2019.

Avianca Holdings will use the jets to renew the fleets of its AeroGal (Quito International), LACSA Costa Rica (San José Juan Santamaría), TACA International Airlines (San Salvador International), Avianca, and Trans American Airlines (Lima International) subsidiaries.

The acquisition, which was first announced as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in February, is the largest single order ever made in Latin America’s aviation history. To date, the Avianca airline group has ordered nearly 300 aircraft including 276 A320 Family (among them 133 for the A320neo Family) jets and fifteen A330 Family jets.
