Aviolet (Belgrade) can proceed with plans to operate charter flights between Serbia and Turkey this summer after parent Air Serbia (JU, Belgrade) secured the Turkish regulatory nod. Serbia had expressed concern at Turkey's perceived lethargy in issuing the national carrier the requisite traffic rights.
Serbian media outlets had claimed Ankara's dithering was in retaliation for the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate's (CAD) decision not to allow Turkish operators Corendon Airlines (XC, Antalya) and Freebird Airlines (FH, Istanbul Airport) to ply their own charter flights between the two countries this summer.
However, Aviolet said last week that it would ferry Serbian tourists to the Turkish resorts of Bodrum Milas, Dalaman, and Antalya later this summer as originally planned. It will serve an additional sixteen Mediterranean and Red Sea destinations located throughout Greece, Spain and Egypt.
