Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for regulatory permission to operate a direct 4x weekly Orlando International-São Paulo Guarulhos, Brazil service with effect from December 19 of this year. Operations would be on-board B767-300(ER) equipment.

Should the route authority be granted, it would mark Delta's first longhaul international flight out of the Floridian tech and entertainment hub.

According to the ch-aviation route database, the Orlando-Brazil market is currently dominated by Brazilian carriers with TAM Linhas Aéreas (São Paulo Congonhas) serving both São Paulo and Brasília Juscelino Kubitschek International while Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) serves São Paulo Viracopos.
