American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) is planning to convert two of its three B757-200-operated flights between Los Angeles International and Honolulu to the A321-200 AirlineRoute has reported.

The switch is scheduled to come into effect from August 18 onwards and will mark the first such use of A320 Family metal on flights between the US mainland and Hawaii.

During the last quarter of the year, Virgin America (San Francisco) will roll out its own flights from San Francisco to Kahului and Honolulu using ETOPS-rated A320-200 (sl)s.
