Air Seychelles (HM, Mahé) says it has completed the transfer of its first Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) jet aircraft to the Seychellois civil aircraft register with A320-200 A6-EIA (cn 1944) now S7-AMI. The move marks the first such registration since Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) acquired a 40% stake in the carrier in 2012. The acquisition subsequently lead to the retirement of Air Seychelles' last remaining locally-registered B767-300 jets.

“This change will provide the airline with more opportunities for growth, for example, by opening up air access to destinations which require a Seychelles-registered aircraft for charter and scheduled operations," Manoj Papa, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said. “We look forward to transferring additional aircraft to the Seychelles register over the coming years, as we continue to grow and expand the airline, driving more tourism and growth in the Seychelles economy.”

Air Seychelles wet-leases its widebodies from Etihad with its two A330-200s still registered in the UAE as A6-EYY (cn 751) and A6-EYZ (cn 807).
