Myanmar National Airlines (UB, Yangon) says it will commence international operations this August with flights from Yangon to Singapore Changi. An additional four cities in the Asia Pacific region are to be added to its growing network by early 2016. The announcement coincides with that of Air KBZ (Yangon) which also plans to make its first international foray in August albeit to the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai.

A state-backed carrier, Myanmar National Airlines plans to use its incoming fleet of B737-800s to bolster its expansion drive with management cooperating with GECAS' AviaSolutions unit to craft a suitable plan.

Until now, Myanmar National Airlines has focussed exclusively on developing a robust domestic network serving twenty-six destinations locally.
