VietJetAir (VJ, Hanoi Noi Bai International) has signed long-term lease agreements with Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS) for two A321-200 (sl)s due for delivery later this year. The Vietnamese LCC currently operates one of the type with an additional thirteen on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac).
“Vietjet has grown faster than expected in the last few years and our previous purchasing plans for new aircraft could not keep up with developing demand," Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, President & CEO of Vietjet, said. "These two new A321s will be the second and third of the type in our fleet and will help us to maximise the opportunity on our high-density trunk routes like Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi and other key regional destinations."
