Tara Air (Kathmandu) took delivery of its first of two DHC-6-400s on order from Viking Air (VKN, Victoria International) on Wednesday, July 15. Following its transfer to the Nepali registry, C-GVAT (cn 921) will be used to ferry tourists, locals, and freight to remote STOL airfields such as Lukla, Phaplu, Jomsom, Dolpa and Simikot. A second aircraft is expected to be delivered in September.
Tara Air plans to use the new turboprops to gradually replace its existing fleet of older DHC-6-300s and Do228s.
