Just two months after Genting Hong Kong completed a USD550 million takeover of the firm, Crystal Cruises has outlined an ambitious multi-billion dollar expansion plan which will see it establish its own dedicated luxury airline subsidiary among other developments.

According to a press communique, Crystal Luxury Air (Los Angeles International) will begin operations in 2017 offering around-the-world flights on-board a B787-8 configured with sixty all-premium seats.

"Each approximately 28-day itinerary will visit 10-12 remote and/or sought-after locales, with accommodations at some of the world's finest hotels and resorts; cuisine prepared by celebrity chefs inspired by the destination; and world-class cultural entertainment," the firm said.

It has yet to be ascertained whether the aircraft will be leased or acquired direct from Boeing (BOE, Washington National).

The round-the-world luxury flight niche has already attracted the likes of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts which charters VIP-configured B757-200s from TAG Aviation (United Kingdom) (VIP, Farnborough) and Abercrombie & Kent which uses similar aircraft chartered from Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik).
