Myanmar National Airlines (UB, Yangon) took delivery of its maiden ATR72-600 - XY-AJY (cn 1267) - on Monday, August 3. The turboprop is the first of an order for six placed with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) in 2014 which also includes six options.

"The arrival of these new aircraft will provide the additional seat capacity and further enhanced service required to meet the booming demand for tourism and business travel across the country," the carrier said in a statement.

Myanmar National Airlines currently operates a fleet of three ATR72-500s, two ATR72-200s and one ATR42-300.

The airline is also setting up an MRO centre in Yangon, with support from ATR. The facility will help maintain other turboprops of the type in service with Air Bagan (Yangon), Air KBZ (Yangon), Air Mandalay (AMY, Yangon), APEX Airlines (Yangon), Asian Wings Airways (Yangon), Golden Myanmar Airlines (GMR, Yangon), Mann Yadanarpon Airlines (7Y, Yangon), the Myanmar Air Force (Yangon), and Yangon Airways (Yangon).
