Fly Blue Crane (Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) says it will commence operations on September 1 offering scheduled multiple daily flights from its Johannesburg O.R. Tambo hub to Bloemfontein‚ Kimberley and Mbombela. Operations are on-board an E145.
Fly Blue Crane is backed by Pretoria-based aviation consultancy firm, Blue Crane Aviation. The start-up counts two former South African Airways (SA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) board members among its shareholders including former South African Airways CEO Siza Mzimela (70%), Commercial General Manager Theunis Potgieter (20%), and the former head of SAA's Revenue Planning department, Jerome Simelane (10%).
