PAWA Dominicana (Santo Domingo Las Américas) is planning to induct a fleet of seven B767 aircraft in the coming months the airline's Director of Corporate Affairs, Alexander Barrios, has said.

Speaking to the Arecoa news site, Barrios said the aircraft would be 247-seaters. A similar initiative was planned back in 2013 when PAWA's new owner, Simeón García Rodríguez, intended to co-opt one of his two Venezuelan carriers - SBA Airlines (Caracas Simón Bolivar) - into operating a B767-300(ER) on Caracas Simón Bolivar-Santo Domingo Las Américas-New York JFK flights in conjunction with PAWA. That plan, however, never came to pass.

Having resumed operations last month with flights from its Santo Domingo Las Américas hub to Aruba, Curacao, and St. Maarten, PAWA is now moving ahead with its second phase of expansion which could see its serving San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin, Puerto Rico as well as Miami International and New York JFK on the US mainland come October. Their launch, however, is dependent on all regulatory requirements being fulfilled.
