CityJet (WX, Dublin International) has placed a firm order with Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) for eight CRJ900s with options for an additional six of the type. According to the Canadians, CityJet is taking over an existing order placed by a customer that requested to remain unidentified at this time.

The jets will be used as part of a wet-lease agreement for SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) wherein the Irish airline will commence services out of Helsinki Vantaa, Stockholm Arlanda, and Oslo Gardermoen on behalf of SAS effective March 2016. Cityjet will start off operating the contract with eight new aircraft with the option of increasing this to fourteen in 2017.

As recently reported, Cityjet will also absorb SAS's Finnish subsidiary Blue 1 (Helsinki Vantaa).
