Frontier Airlines (F9, Denver International) took delivery of its maiden A321-200 (sl) - N701FR (cn 6793) - on Friday, October 9. The twinjet is scheduled to commence revenue operations from November 1 onwards with flights from Frontier's newest crew base Orlando International to Philadelphia International, Denver International, Detroit Metropolitan, and Cleveland Hopkins.
The ULCC recently inked a Sale/Lease-back agreement with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) covering nine of the eighteen A321-200s it has on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac).
According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, Frontier has become the fifth airline to have operated all four types of single aisle Airbus planes including the A318-100, A319-100, A320, and the A321. The other four include Air France (AF, Paris CDG), Avianca (Bogotá), British Airways (BA, London Heathrow), and LAN Airlines (Santiago de Chile). Frontier and LAN however no longer operate the A318 at this point.
