Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) says it has delayed the planned resumption of operations at Craiova, south-western Romania, until November 10 to allow for the completion of upgrade works to its main runway 09/27. The airfield's closure was originally scheduled to run from June 1 until mid-September.

“Until the Romanian civil aviation authority issues approval for normal flight operations from Craiova, including taxiways and aprons, we will not operate there,” John Stephenson, executive vice president, Wizz Air, said.

For the duration of outstanding works, the Hungarian LCC says it will operate flights scheduled for Craiova out of Bucharest Henri Coanda offering passengers free motor coach transport from Craiova to Bucharest airport.

Wizz Air's Craiova network includes Barcelona El Prat, Bologna, London Luton, Milan Bergamo, and Rome Ciampino.
