AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2, Baku Heydar Aliev International) has announced plans to suspend scheduled passenger flights to the eastern towns of Gabala and IATA!KVD citing poor demand.

Twice weekly flights from Baku Heydar Aliev International to Gabala ended last week while daily services to Gyandzha will end on November 21.

Both destinations rely heavily on the tourism trade and it is believed seasonal services may be resurrected in the future.

These were the only two remaining domestic services operated by AZAL. It will however retain a weekly A319-100 service linking Gyandzha with St. Petersburg.
