Workers unions at ASL Airlines France (5O, Paris CDG) have petitioned the French postal service, La Poste, to review a decision awarding two Paris CDG contracts to Swedish firm West Atlantic Cargo Airlines (WACA).

In a statement, the unions at ASL Airlines France, formerly known as Europe Airpost (Paris CDG), slammed the move as being "socially destructive" as it could result in the loss of up to 465 jobs once the new contract kicks in on January 1, 2016.

For its part, WACA operates various mail contracts around Scandinavia including a recently sealed five year-long deal to provide airmail services throughout Norway for Posten. WACA is in the process of consolidating its two constituent airlines - West Air Sweden (Gothenburg Landvetter) and Atlantic Airlines (United Kingdom) (Coventry) - into one organisation and is also considering listing on the NASDAQ bourse in Stockholm.
