China Postal Airlines (CF, Nanjing) has announced an agreement with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for ten converted B737-800 freighters, pending a program launch. As such, the China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) subsidiary joins YTO Cargo Airlines (YG, Hangzhou) as a launch customer for the Boeing BCF program.

"This is a historic order both for China Postal and Boeing," Yufeng Li, president of China Postal Airlines, said. "The B737-800 BCF will bring to our freighter fleet more advanced avionics, better fuel efficiency and lower operating costs that will ensure China Postal's continued success as a leader in the industry."

The B737-800 is the first Next-Generation B737 that Boeing is offering for conversion although Israel Aerospace Industries (Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) has already unveiled its own B737-700PSF conversion programme through its MRO and conversion arm, Bedek Aviation Group.

China Postal Airlines operates twelve B737-300(F)s, two B737-300(QC)s, eight B737-400(F)s, and four B757-200(PF)s. The freight specialist's agreement with the Americans also includes the purchase of seven B757-200s that the airline plans to convert into freighters.
