Firefly (FY, Penang) says a recently signed codeshare agreement with parent Malaysia Airlines (MH, Kuala Lumpur International) came into effect on December 22. Initially, the deal will see Firefly placing its 'FY' flightcode on MAB flights from Kuala Lumpur International to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Labuan and Penang with more destinations to roll-out in future.

"Together with Malaysia Airlines, we at Firefly are ecstatic to be able to provide customers with more travel options," Firefly’s Chief Executive Officer, Ignatius Ong said. "We have no doubts that the offering of the ability to book flights to East Malaysia will be a boon to our loyal customers. With the launch of these initial three routes; Firefly will gradually increase the number of codeshare routes with Malaysia Airlines in 2016."

Firefly operates a fleet of nineteen ATR72-500/600s on flights throughout Malaysia as well as to Banda Aceh and Medan Kuala Namu in Indonesia, Singapore Changi, and Koh Samui, Krabi, and Phuket in Thailand.
