The Algerian Ministry of Transport has ordered all Libyan operators to suspend flights between Tripoli and Algiers with effect from Friday, January 29.

The announcement follows the recent detaining of hundreds of Moroccans in Algiers who were heading to Tripoli last week. According to Reuters, Algerian government officials fear their country is being used as conduit for Islamic State recruits heading to Sirte, Libya.

According to the ch-aviation route database, Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga) is the only known scheduled Libyan carrier to serve Algiers offering a 2x weekly return service from Tripoli Mitiga.
