Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International) is planning to place a firm order with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos) for thirty E175s with options for an additional thirty of the same type The Wall Street Journal has reported quoting internal company sources.

Late last month, Alaska chief financial officer (CFO) Brandon Pedersen said his airline was looking to replace fifteen Dash 8-400s coming off lease at its Horizon Air (QX, Seattle Tacoma International) subsidiary in 2018, with thirty 76-seater regional jets beginning in 2017. Placement, however, would be contingent on Horizon's pilot and cabin crew unions approving changes to their Collective Labour Agreement (CLA), he added.

SkyWest Airlines (OO, Salt Lake City) currently operates five EMB-175s for and on behalf of Alaska Airlines under its Alaska SkyWest banner.
