Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) is planning to begin scheduled commercial operations out of Jakarta Pondok Cabe as early as next month.

The announcement follows the signing of a partnership agreement with Pelita Air (IP, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) last year wherein Garuda agreed to operate a number of short-haul flights from Pondok Cabe to destinations such as Lubuk Linggau, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, Semarang, Yogyakarta Adisutjipto, Pangkalanbun and Ketapang. Cilacap and Cepu are also on the cards.

Operations are on-board an ATR72-600 turboprop.

Pondok Cabe Airport is currently a joint civilian and military airport. On the civilian side, state oil firm Pertamina uses it as the base for its commercial charter airline, Pelita Air Service.
