Zagros Airlines (Iran) (IZG, Abadan) is in talks with various global aircraft manufacturers over the supply of urgently needed equipment needed to renew its heavily outdated fleet.

Airline chairman, Abdolreza Mousavi, told the Tasnim News Agency that talks are currently on with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) over possible orders for aircraft.

“We are currently in direct negotiations with Airbus for the supply of aircraft,” he said. “Airbus managers have promised us to propose their offers by the end of February.”

Given the lack of early delivery slots, Zagros Air, whose fleet consists of one A319-100, nine A320-200s (two of which are leased from Khors Aircompany (Kyiv Boryspil)), five MD-82s, and three MD-83s, is urgently looking for Airbus jets that are between two and five years old, Mousavi added.

Talks with the Brazilians are also ongoing though no details concerning Zagros' requirements there were disclosed.
